In the book of Exodus we can see Jesus in many ways.
Of course, as the second Person of the Divine Trinity, Jesus was completely involved the coming out of the children of Israel, from the land of Egypt. He may have very well been the Angel the Lord told Moses He would send to go before them (Ex. 32:34). That would make Jesus their Leader and Guide, their Deliverer and Mediator between God and them (Hebrews 8:6). If you are not sure that Jesus is God and is a member of the Divine Trinity, please read the Is Jesus God? article.
As being the Word of God Himself, a great picture of Jesus in Exodus would be the giving of the law on the tablets of stone in chapter 20. In a later period the Lord promised: “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.” (Hebrews 8:10-11).
Of course, we can also see Jesus in the establishment of the High Priest office, as Jesus is our Great High Priest – Hebrews 2:17. The interesting thing is that Exodus portrays Jesus not only as the High Priest, but also as the sacrifice the High Priest is offering for our sins. As you know, Jesus became the sacrificial lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7).
Finally, Jesus is pictured in the Presence and Glory of God that filled the Tabernacle in Ex. 40:34-35. John 1:14 says: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”.
When we get born again, Jesus said He and the Father come and dwell in us, through the Holy Spirit. The Bible also says we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Aren’t you glad the Lord has chosen us for His dwelling. There’s absolutely nothing more awesome and fulfilling than a person having the Presence and Glory of the Lord over and in their life. Psalm 85:9 says: “Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.”. In other words, the main purpose of the Lord for saving us, on this side of Heaven, is that we may experience His Glory in our own life, and then be carriers of that same glory wherever we go.
