18th week - Godly women! God has made us different; this is something good, unique, incredible, and a great blessing. Differences must not be obstacles, but rather opportunities for helping each other.
“She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens… She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night… She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet (Bulgarian Bible says clothed with double clothes)… She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.” Proverbs 31:15,18,21,27 (KJV)
As Christian women, we must be wise and prudent Godly women. The Lord has created women with a unique sensitivity, creativity and wisdom, so they can foresee things afar off, and provide for their families. The woman from Proverbs 31 not only saw what would be happening in the future, but was also wise enough, to be prepared by taking measures accordingly. She didn’t wait for the difficult time to come.
Verse 21 says that she didn’t not fear the snow, because all her folks not only had clothes, but had double clothes. Being clothed with one set of clothes is good, but she had even prepared more than what was enough.
This is speaking not only about our outer man, but our inner man as well – our spirit. Our spirit must also be “clothed well”. Even when the family is going through difficult moments and hard places (verses 15 and 18), she has food and clothing in store, to give to her household. Spiritually speaking, the Word of God is the food and It is the clothing we all need (verse 26). Otherwise, we will be hungry and will freeze out – spiritually and naturally. If our spirit and body are clothed and fed, being strong in the Lord, all circumstances will change for our benefit.
The Proverbs 31 Chapter type of woman is not lazy, and she is not waiting passively for the days of spiritual and natural prosperity and well being to come, because, even in difficult times, and dark periods, she has made the Lord her candle. So, the Lord’s light in her does not go out in the dark, because she wants to be in help for her family. Her prayers, commitment, and hard work are on the line.
There’s food which we, Godly women, must release unto our families. Even while it is still dark, before the new day has begun (before each new period in our family life, like the new baby coming, the kids starting school, etc), we must be prepared. We must have prayed, planned, strategized, and prepared for the spiritual and natural well being of our families. So when the “new day” begins, our families can rest assured in the Divine provision – spiritually and naturally. Let us allow the Lord’s creativity to flow from us, not restricting Him, but doing everything that is in our power to do, according to His leading (verse 13).
This is not an impossible standard! The Lord has given us everything needed to accomplish it. And every man will surely be blessed to have such a helper (verses 11, 28, 29).
