Im not Jesus? What's that? Of course everyone of us will say they are not Jesus. The reason I wanted to put that page together is to remind of John the Baptist's indirect plea towards us. When the Jewish Priests went to John, he said to them clearly: "I am not the Christ". Then, when his own disciples questioned him, John the Baptists made on of the greatest most humble statements a human being has ever pronounced:
"A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:27-30).
The phrase: He must increase, but I must decrease is the essence of the I'm not Jesus declaration, so I love to call that the "John the Baptist humility declaration". It shows us the utter importance of us being always acknowledgable of that simple fact - that our mission and calling is to Lift up Jesus - not ourselves or our ministries. It's Him and Him alone we are to lift HIGH and then He will draw people unto Himself and will entrust us with His own inheritance. So, please remember that always!
