Is Jesus God? Yes, He is! And because God does not need somebody else to prove He is God, I will let God’s Word speak for Himself:
“Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.” (Romans 9:5 NIV)
Is Jesus God? Absolutely! He is called The Word of God in Revelation 19:13 and John says in his Gospel that
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:1-3).
Colossians 1:16 also confirms the fact that
“by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”.
Is Jesus God? Well, see for yourself! The prophet Micah prophesied about a Ruler of Israel, Who would come out of Bethlehem of Judah, ”Whose origins are from of old, from ancient times (from days of eternity).” (Micah 5:2). Jesus Himself said, when He prayed to God the father, in John 17:5: “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” Now God the father called Jesus – GOD – two times in Hebrews 1:8-9: ”But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” When Thomas saw Him resurrected, he exclaimed: “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28)
Need more proof? No problem! Matthew calls Jesus – Immanuel, which means “God with us” (Matthew 1:23). Acts 2:36 calls Him – Lord; Acts 10:36 – Lord of all, and 1 Corinthians 2:8 – Lord of Glory. The prophet Isaiah prophesied about Jesus, specifically calling Him, among many other things – Mighty God and Everlasting Father. In fact, why don’t we read this whole passage together:
”For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)
According to Revelation, Jesus is ”the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (22:13), as well as “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (19:16).
Is Jesus God? Most certainly! The Bible calls Him the Creator (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:1-3); Head of the Church (Ephesians 1:22; Colossians 1:16-24); Our Savior (2 Peter 3:2); The Judge of all living and dead (2 Timothy 4:1); The Life giver (John 10:28; 17:2); The Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36) and The Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25)
Jesus was holy (Luke 1:35), righteous (Hebrews 1:9), guileless (1 Peter 2:22), sinless (2 Corinthians 5:21) and spotless (1 Peter 1:19) – character features which can be ascribed ONLY to God.
Well, the conclusion to the question: Is Jesus God? is obvious: YES – Jesus Christ is God! He is the second Person in the Godhead – the Divine Trinity – The Father, the Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
He is our Lord and Master!
He is our King!
He is our Love and Passion!
He is our Bridegroom!
He is our Victor and our Raptor!
He is our Example to follow, our Guide to lead us, our Inheritance to obtain!
He is also our elder Brother and most of all…
He is our Friend!
Let me finish by quoting Jesus’ own words in John 15:15:
”I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”
