8th week - Jesus baptism - GLORY! A slave is one, who is compelled to serve, while the minister is one who lives to serve.
“Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him; that glory may dwell in our land” Psalm 85:9 (KJV)
I would like to paraphrase this verse, so we can get a clearer picture of God’s present will for our life: “He has saved us, so that His Glory may dwell in our land”. This means, that the purpose of our salvation on this side of Heaven, is to be carriers of God’s Glory until it fills the whole Earth.
God’s Glory is His Manifested Presence. It’s also His character and fruit. When Moses prayed: “Lord, please, show me Your Glory”, the Lord said: “OK, I will make all My goodness pass before you” and He showed him His character – “The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth” (Exodus 33:18; 34:6; Galatians 5:22, 23).
Now the New Testament tells us that we are to change from glory to glory, beholding the Glory of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). This means that, as we behold the Lord’s Glory – His Presence and character – we must allow Him to change as into the same image. In this way, we will become able carriers of His Presence and His love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness and temperance to the lost and dying world. Ultimately, this will bring God’s salvation to all and fill the Earth with His Glory.
