7th week - Jesus crown - Being a Servant! Physical Growth is a matter of time; Intellectual Growth is a matter of knowledge, while Spiritual Growth depends most of all on our level of obedience to the Lord.
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.” Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
Joshua had something unusual about him. I believe the Lord chose him, because He knew Joshua, like Abraham, would “command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord” (Genesis 18:19). He was a great warrior, and yet – a profound worshipper. The Bible says that when Moses was leaving the Tabernacle after a long day of being in God’s Presence and judging the people, Joshua - his servant - remained in the Tabernacle.
Joshua loved the Presence of the Lord. He knew God so personally, that he was able to lead an entire people in their promised land, overtaking the enemy completely. Nothing could stop him – not even the SUN. He was like David – a mighty man of war and a humble seeker of the Lord at the same time. He was like Daniel – an incredibly wise leader and a committed servant of His Lord at the same time. He was also like Joseph – a gifted ruler and a symbol of God’s Salvation at the same time.
We are all called by the Lord to seek Him and find Him in such a deep way, that we are able to trust Him for our whole family (AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD), as well as for all else He places under our care. Now, that’s a challenge! Are you ready to take it?
