| Jesus in Jeremiah. The prophet Jeremiah continues the righteous thread started by Isaiah. We see Jesus here as The Lord our Righteousness, the Lord first being the Righteous Branch - the King of kings and Lord of lords. "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS." (Jeremiah 23:5-6) Again we see that righteousness goes hand in hand with justice, salvation and comfort. These two verses of Scripture above so well wrap up the whole doctrine of sin, redemption, righteousness, salvation and our benefits from it, and judgment. |
