The answer is that the Lord is not a Coca Cola Machine. He is not distributing His anointing and power just because we have pushed some theological buttons or have simulated some living on God’s principles and commandments. God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that will he also reap. The Lord is a Person, not a law system. He is Real. He longs for Your Communication, Your relationship with Him, and Your Heart obedience. His anointing can be linked (for a lack of a better term) only with His Character and Personality. In other words, the more we are LIKE HIM in character, the more of His anointing, power, grace, wisdom and all else will function in reality in our life. Imagine a little empty vessel. The vessel is we ourselves, and it symbolizes our character. We want all God’s anointing, yet, we are so little like Him in character, so our vessel is very little. Let’s say he Lord pours half a liter of His anointing in our 100 ml vessel. What will happen to the rest of 400 ml? They will be spilled away? Why? Because our vessel can not hold the whole half a liter. Same is with everyone who wants God’s power, but does not focus and concentrate on enlarging his / her vessel, to be able to hold more and more (be more like the Lord in character, in the fruit of the Spirit, in word and deed). If we concentrate on the right things, e.g. enlarging our vessel by striving to be like the Lord more and more, we would not care to ask for more of His power and anointing – it will come by itself. The Lord is looking for Persons like Him, not only made theoretically in His image and likeness, but in reality living as such, and He is more than eager to pour out His Spirit over them. So, the deficit is not his power, but our vessel. Let us enlarge it and prepare for His Glory!
