Leviticus is the book that describes the different sacrifices the children of Israel had to offer, as well as the ordinances for the high Priest, the priests and the atonement principles. Therefore, we can see Jesus in His office of The High Priest everywhere in this third book of the Bible. The chapters that specifically speak about the High Priest are 8, 9 and 10.
Hebrews 7:25-26 says: ”Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.”. Hallelujah!
In the Jesus in Exodus picture page, we saw Jesus as the High Priest and the Sacrificial Lamb at the same time, and similarly, here we can again see Jesus as the High Priest and the sacrifice: ”But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.”. Levitticus chapters from one to seven speak about all the different sacrifices and what they symbolized.
Jesus became our Burnt offering (Lev. 1), Grain offering (Lev. 2), Fellowship / Peace offering (Lev.3), Sin offering (Lev. 4) and Guilt offering (Lev. 7). He took the whole punishment for every sin ever done and ever to be done. Now, as The Heavenly High Priest, He is completely able to administer salvation to each and every one of us, providing that we come to Him humbly and with a repentant heart.
A further and deeper study of the sacrifices and the High Priestly office will bless you tremendously and will enhance your understanding of the New testament offices of kings and priests - the offices the Lord uses to identify us as His ministers (Revelation 5:10).
