Victory in Jesus - How to win our cities for God
Now as easy as it looks, this Victory in Jesus we are pursuing is also a great responsibility for each and every one of us, since these two people had to do several things when they went into the cities: 1. They had to pray: “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest.” (Luke 10:2) – The first thing we should do, when we realize that the Lord does want to visit our cities and nation, is to start praying, seeking the Lord and interceding about labourers. He is the Lord of the harvest, and according to Him, the harvest is already ripe. This verse shows us that the Lord is waiting on us to start praying and asking for labourers, who will not be afraid, ashamed or unequipped to harvest. 2. They had to be focused: ”Go your ways …Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.” (Luke 10:3-4) – In other words, they had to be completely focused and not allowing anything to distract them (For more on the theme of how destructive distraction can be, please read my book Distraction is a sure way to Destruction). This also means they were to be absolutely devoted and committed to the vision they had received. 3. They had to heal the sick and cast out devils: ”… heal the sick” (Luke 10:9) – The third thing the disciples had to do was to pray for the sick people, which they successfully did and were to amazed the sicknesses were leaving and the devils were obeying them (Luke 10:17). Now this third point would require us to realize our authority as sent by the Lord people, to deal with any sickness, demonic activity and whatever is trying to block God’s blessing in our cities. We have been placed in our regions to patrol them for God, rule there in the spirit area, and offer God’s salvation in it’s fullness (To find out more about the true and full meaning of salvation, please click on my Jesus Healing Article). 4. They had to evangelize: ”… and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.” (Luke 10:9) – This would mean to overcome every barrier and start being witnesses for God everywhere we go. Simple, yea? Yet – very profound! Only 4 things are needed in order that the Lord visits our regions and pours out His blessing.
