24th week - Walking with Jesus - FAITHFULNESS! If we give our faithfulness to the Lord, He is pretty well able to do all the rest.
“So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.” Genesis 45:8 (KJV)
Yes, Joseph was so blessed by the Lord and he became such a blessing that it is hardly believable. Yes, he became God’s instrument for salvation from worldwide starvation. Yes, he had such an incredible favor of the Lord upon his life, that wherever he went and under whatever circumstances he had been placed, he prospered spiritually and physically. What we should notice about him though, is his faithfulness.
Many of us say: “I want to be faithful only to the Lord, to be accountable only to Him and He to be my only Master”. That’s good, but it’s not possible. Because the Lord is building a Kingdom. He is building a House. And He is building a Body. None of this is possible with one person. You stand beside someone else. You have people above You and You have people below You. You can find them everywhere – in Your home, in Your Church, at Your workplace, in Your school – everywhere. Now what I want You to see is that Joseph prospered BECAUSE he took the vision of those above him, and prospered it. He didn’t build an empire for himself. He was just faithful to the Lord in his heart, to his natural father Jacob, to his master Potifar, to his master in jail, and finally to Pharaoh. All this brought a constant promotion in his life until at the age of 37, he entered into a “world saving ministry”. WOW!
Maybe that’s the key for You. Maybe You should get more involved in Your Church. You may not have a dream how to build a Church, but Your pastor does. Maybe You should be faithful to his vision. You may not have a clue how to build a corporation, but Your boss has. Maybe You should be faithful and the Lord will use You. I know it may not seem as the right thing to do and we can find a thousand excuses not to do it, but if You search through the Bible, You will see this principle everywhere – Joseph, David, Daniel, Nehemiah, Esther, Paul, etc, etc. Just think about that. Potifar was Joseph’s master at first, but because of his faithfulness, Joseph was promoted to such an extent, that he became Potifar’s master in time.
