2nd week - Wisdom! Be quick to repent, quick to forgive and quick to believe and act on the Bible – these four things will make us successful Christians.
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
Many people take this verse and try to rest assured that nothing will ever happen to them, which they are not able to bear. Well, that’s not what this verse is saying at all. I mean, it is clear and beyond any doubt, that many times things happen to people, which are more than what they can bear, and many eventually fall because of these things. Others get offended at the Lord, saying: “Why has this happened to me, since the Lord is saying in 1 Corinthians 10:13: “…..” But here’s the shocking thought: We don’t have the ability and strength to bear ANY temptation that comes our way - ALONE.
The key part to understanding this Scripture is: “but will with the temptation (which means temptation will come) also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it”. Temptations are inevitable, and without the Lord, we are not able to go through ANY of them. So, what we must do is: the moment the temptation comes, we are to seek the Lord for the way of escape. In other words, seek His leading, His grace and mercy, His ability, and His strategy. When we do, He is faithful to provide all this in the time we need them (James 1:5; Hebrews 4:16).
