Family Guy Jesus - CHILDREN Devotional

42nd week: Family Guy Jesus - CHILDREN! Investment in our children is the best possible investment

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

The word “train up” here means: “To narrow the child’s way properly, e.g. Jesus said there is a broad way leading to death and a narrow way leading to life”. It also means “To start, initiate”, which speaks about our responsibility to do it. Our children will not learn by themselves. Finally, the word does mean: “To train up, to discipline, to commit”

Let us invest in our children in the following 12 areas:

1. God’s calling and purpose in their life, which will put an end to the chaos and lack of order in their life. Tell your children the Lord has a purpose and a mission for their life.

2. God’s doctrine in their life. This speaks of their faith, convictions, concepts. Talk to them to find out what they think about the major issues of life and guide them in the right paths.

3. Redeeming the time (Ecc 3:11). Their time must be committed to the values of the Kingdom of God. If a person has the right perspective of time, he will succeed in everything.

4. Building the fruit of the Spirit, and not the works of the flesh, in them (Galatians 5).

5. Developing the gifts and talents of the Spirit in them (1 Corinthians 12)

6. Developing a creative thinking in them. Let your children be creative, different and unique in their thinking. Also develop their creativity in the financial area.

7. Let them have a Godly character.

8. Let them have compassion and feel for the needs of others.

9. Let them be obedient to the authorities the Lord has placed in their lives.

10. Let hem be willing to identify and pay the price for what hey must become, including not quitting when tried, rejected or confused.

11. Develop the reality of God in their life through your own example. Challenging, ha?

12. Let them be people of power and not of words only. Let them be practical and pragmatic to the fullest.
