Genesis

Jesus in Genesis

The book of Genesis is the book of beginnings. Logically then, we can see Jesus as the Great Creator and the Beginning of beginnings.

John 1:1 states: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

Colossians 1:16 also pictures Jesus as the Creator: “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”

There are so many more scriptures we could use to prove that Jesus was absolutely and completely involved in the creation process. I don’t think that’s needed for now, so let’s move on.

After the fall of Adam and Eve, we can again see Jesus as the promised Seed of the woman(Genesis 3:15), which is actually the first promise of God, after the fall, of our total victory over the devil and his works. Jesus is the One, Who crashed satan’s head, thus giving us the opportunity to become children of God.

The picture of Jesus as our Savior can also be seen in The Ark. The Ark Noah built became the vessel of salvation for the ones who listened to Noah, as the Cross of Jesus became the vessel of salvation for everyone that believes.

We could never pass te first book of the Bible without mentioning the amazing account of how Abraham obeyed God to the point of being willing to sacrifice His ONLY son (Genesis 22), which of course leads us to the picture of Jesus as the Only Begotten of the Father, Whom the Father was willing to sacrifice for all of us (John 3:16).

Finally, Joseph is a great picture of Jesus, in two ways:

1). Joseph was the son, whom Jacob loved the most (Genesis 37:3), and about Jesus God the Father said: “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

2). Joseph was sold in a foreign land, yet, he became the salvation of the Age, and the preserver of the Hebrew nation – the people of God. Jesus too, provided salvation for people of all ages, and a Preserver of His Body – the Church.

Well, I believe you have been blessed by these pictures of Jesus in the book of Genesis.
