A Global call to Intercession prayers
Intercession prayers. I would like to use this page as a global call for prayer and intercession. I believe the Lord has revealed to me something from His Word, which so much describes the world we are living in today, and what our response and actions should be. Let’s read from Psalm 2 and see an incredible revelation:“Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His Anointed One. ‘Let us break their chains,’ they say, ‘and throw off their fetters.’” (verses 1-3)Does this look familiar? Nations conspiring? Rulers and world leaders plotting against the Lord? Independence mindset? Rebellion? Global gatherings against the Anointed One (that being the Lord Jesus and His Body worldwide)? Sin abounding in all spheres and on all levels? Corruption? Depravity and pervertedness?
Sounds like the time we are living in, huh? So much persecution of the brutal medieval type, so many political moves to try to block the freedom of religion in whole nations, so many economic and social schemes against the Church, discrimination, racial prejudices, religious profiling, threatening, arrogance, rejection, hurt (physical and emotional), imprisonment (physical and of the system), limitations, not equal rights and privileges, etc., etc. The list can go on and on. That’s our world today and it does need intercession prayers, don’t you think!
- Communism is still ruling over the lives of hundreds of millions of people in the former USSR and the nations of Eastern Europe, even though democracy presumably already settled there more than 20 years ago;
- Brutal crusades again Christians take place in Asia and Africa;
- Humanism is presiding over Western Europe and the Americas, trying to rule out God and the moral foundations and principles of Christianity, trading them for “freedoms” like the homosexual freedom, the “Islam” freedom, the “freedom of living with your ‘spouse’ without being married” and the “freedom of speech”. Not that I wouldn’t have loved the last one, had it included the freedom to speak the Word of God in the political, social and family life of our nations.
Well, in the midst of all this – the reality of the world we are living in – most of us Christiansshrink and hide in our caves, much like Gideon did, trying to hide from the Midianites, even excusing ourselves that God has forgotten us, because… “Where are His mighty works, which He did at the time of our forefathers…?” Remember Gideon’s complaint? The Lord didn’t even answer it. He won’t answer our inadequateness and lack of action too. Instead, He told Gideon: “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior! Go in your strength and save Israel. Have I not sent you?” (Judges 6:11, 14)
We see the same thing in Psalm 2. After prophetically describing the situation in the world, the Bible says:
“ The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath, saying, ‘I have installed My King on Zion, My holy hill.’” (verses 4-6)
See, despite of the situation around, the Lord is still Lord and He is still ruling and reigning. Of course everybody knows that – after all, the Lord holds the whole Universe in His hand, so what is man to stand in the way of His purposes and intentions? We all know that. So, let me take You one step further. We know what the situation is and we know God is above it, but where do we fit into the picture?
“I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me, “You are My Son today I have become Your Father. Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter & You will dash them to pieces like pottery.”” (verses 7-9)
The Lord is talking to His Son – Jesus and His Body – us. The interesting thing, which is the revelation I wanted to lead you to is that it is in the exactly same context of nations going crazy big time against the Lord and Christians hiding and accepting things the way there are – the status quo, that the Lord is challenging us to “ASK OF ME, AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE NATIONS FOR YOUR INHERITANCE”. Can You see that? In the midst of all of the above, instead of shrinking and hiding in fear like all the rest, it appears to be the EXACT RIGHT TIME for us to start offering intercession prayers to the Lord about our nations, and His promise is that He will give the nations to us as our inheritance! WOW!
Can you believe that? While everybody else is literally terrified by everything that is going on in the world today, because NOBODY can offer ANY solution, we must be on our knees, asking the nations from the Lord, full of hope and faith He will give them to us.
So, my appeal to you, Christians of all denominations and groups, is: Despite of the situation around us and even because of it, let us offer intercession prayers to the Lord about our nations and our leaders: “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
Now, more than ever, we need to be on fire for prayer and action, because the Lord is more than able to grant us our intercession prayers for our nations. And I am not talking just for whole Churches to pray when the meet together, but we all, as individuals, when we go into our secret place of prayer, let us not be intimidated by the plans of the enemy, but let us bring God’s Kingdom on Earth, as it is in Heaven, through our intercession prayers. After all, that’s the way Jesus taught His disciples to pray and God the Father definitely hears Jesus’ prayers. In Psalm 2 we see God the Father tell Jesus to ask the nations as His inheritance and then we see Jesus giving this prayer model to His disciples and to all after them – us; a prayer to bring down Heaven upon Earth and to execute God’s will in our land – The Lord’s Prayer!
Look at how Psalm 2 concludes, in this same train of thoughts:
”Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for His wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him. intercession prayers are a very key part in the process of this taking of refuge”
It’s not us who should be afraid by the situation around us – it’s the wicked leaders who should be afraid – all those who in the beginning of this Psalm tried to plot against the Lord. Because after all, blessed are those who take refuge in the Lord and all is well when it ends well. We are the ones that come out as victors in the end, so let’s have that mentality and setting even from now, in our intercession prayers! Let us be bold and let us win our families, neighborhoods, cities and nations, on our knees! Amen!
