Jesus in Nehemiah

Jesus in Nehemiah. Nehemiah was a very humble man, with an extremely large heart for his nation and his people. That’s why, the Lord raised him up to become the governor of Judah for 12 years (Nehemiah 5:14). 12 is the number of rulership and authority. Needless to say, this is a symbol of Jesus, Who is also called thegovernor of Judah in Matthew 2:6.

In the face of Nehemiah, we can also see Jesus as the man of prayer and work. Every step of the way, Nehemiah prayedand acted according to God’s leading. He prayed before he went to see the King, after that, and even while he was speaking with him (Nehemiah 2:4-8). He prayed before starting to rebuild Jerusalem and while he was building it. His people had to carry a sword in one hand and a work instrument in the other (Nehemiah 4:17-18). Now that’s a balance!

Jesus also built His life on the foundation of prayer to His Father and obedience to what He received through the Holy Spirit. He now continues to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:25) and in the same time, continues His work in building His Church Body, He being the Head (Matthew 16:18).
