Miracles of Jesus - RIVER OF GOD Devotional

44th week: Miracles of Jesus - RIVER OF GOD! The Lord’s Word is so amazing and we will really need eternity to search it out

“And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. 15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” Genesis 2:10-15 (KJV)

When the Lord created man, He placed him in the garden of Eden. This was Adam and Eve’s place to live in, their calling and purpose was connected to this place, it was their headquarters form which they were to rule and reign the Earth.

Now there was a river there that has as its purpose to water the garden. Water in Scripture is a symbol of life, of nourishment, of provision.

The water of this river reminds me of another water, the living water the Lord is giving each and everyone of us. This living water, interestingly enough, also springs out from a river, this time a spiritual river – the river of the Holy Spirit in us. Isn’t the Lord amazing?

The river in the garden of Eden became four heads, which went in their specific destinations. One of them went around a land where there was gold, and a good one. This is speaking of provision.

There is still another river, about which the prophet Ezekiel speaks, and it also brings provision in the form of healing and restoration to the nations.

My point is that if the river of the Holy Spirit is in us, He has placed it there for a purpose – to bring God’s provision in every area of our life, so we, on our part, can fulfill God’s calling and destiny in our lives, dressing and keeping the spiritual “garden” the Lord has placed us in (Genesis 2:15).
