35th week: The Jesus Prayer! Yes, the Lord loves to answer our prayers, but which ones?
“From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:1-3 (KJV)
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come… Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” Revelation 22:17, 20(KJV)
All of us pray millions of prayers to the Lord. Some get answered, others don’t. For the ones that don’t, we have formed so many explanations as to why they didn’t get answered. Some blame God, some themselves, some the circumstances, and some who knows what else. There’s no end to all the philosophical and theological attempts to explain why some times prayer does not get answered. I will not join in giving you one more reason for that.
Instead, I want to give you a prayer that will surely get answered. It is very simple. Here it is: “Lord, please come!” You will say: “Is that is?” Yes, it is. If He comes, He will bring His purposes for your life, family and ministry. If He comes, He will come with His Power and Glory! If He comes, He will come with His fire. If He comes, He will come with His salvation, healing, deliverance, prosperity, protection, wholeness and total victory.
When will we start being hungry for Him? Even if the Lord answers all our prayers, if they are selfish and centered only around us and our well being, it would only bring about our destruction. If we want Him, and be hungry for His purposes and agendas, then all our prayers will be with the right motive and in the right direction. Let us join the Spirit and the bride in saying: “Come, Lord!”
